Digital Business Card
A digital business card is a shareable contact page, opened by link, QR code, or NFC tap, that lets someone save your details to their phone. It complements the email signature rather than replacing it.
What is Digital Business Card?
A digital business card is a web page or file that holds a person's contact details and can be shared without paper. It is usually opened through a link, a QR code shown on a phone screen or printed material, or an NFC card or tag that opens the page when tapped against a phone. The page shows the person's name, title, company, photo, phone, email, and links, and offers a button that saves the contact to the recipient's address book, typically by downloading a vCard file. The email signature and the digital business card overlap, since both present the same contact details, but they serve different moments: the signature travels with every email, while the card is for in-person meetings, events, and anywhere an email has not yet been exchanged. They work best together. A signature can link to the card or include a save contact link, and the card can link back to the person's booking page. For organizations, the same problem applies to both: details change with promotions and departures, so cards and signatures that pull from one directory source stay accurate, while cards created individually drift just like hand-made signatures.
