vCard in Email Signature
An attached or embedded .vcf file in an email signature that lets the recipient save the sender's contact details directly to their address book.
What is vCard in Email Signature?
A vCard (Virtual Contact File, file extension .vcf) is a standardized format for electronic business cards defined by RFC 6350. When embedded in or attached to an email signature, a vCard lets the recipient save the sender's contact details (name, title, phone, email, address, photo, website, social profiles) directly into their address book or CRM with one click. Two implementation paths exist: attaching the .vcf file as an actual attachment to the message, or linking to a hosted .vcf file via a URL in the signature. The hosted-URL approach is more common because it keeps the email size small and lets the contact details update without resending. vCards combine well with QR codes (the QR code resolves to a hosted .vcf URL, which the recipient scans from their phone to save the contact). For sales teams, vCards reduce the friction of getting into the prospect's contact list, which subtly improves response rates over time.
