Email Signature Image Blocking

Mail clients that suppress remote images by default cause signature logos, headshots, and banners to render as empty boxes or alt text until the recipient chooses to load them.

What is Email Signature Image Blocking?

Most mail clients treat remote images as a privacy and security concern and either block them by default or proxy them. Outlook desktop blocks external images in messages from senders not on a safe list. Apple Mail's privacy protection loads images through a relay. Gmail proxies images through Google's servers rather than blocking outright. The practical consequence for signatures is that the logo, headshot, or campaign banner may not appear on first view, and a signature whose entire identity is carried in one image can arrive looking broken or empty. Three design responses follow. Keep the name, title, and contact details as live HTML text rather than baking them into an image, so the signature still functions when images do not load. Set meaningful alt text on every image, which is both an accessibility requirement and the fallback the recipient actually sees. And host images on a stable HTTPS URL rather than embedding them, since inline embedded images inflate message size and are treated as attachments by some clients, which changes how the message displays. Image blocking also means signature open-tracking pixels undercount, sometimes substantially.

How does SyncSignature implement Email Signature Image Blocking?

SyncSignature hosts signature images on stable URLs and keeps contact details as HTML text rather than image, so the signature stays readable when a client blocks remote images.
