Email Signature API

A programmatic interface for creating, updating, and assigning signatures, used to drive signature changes from another system rather than through an admin dashboard.

What is Email Signature API?

An email signature API exposes the operations an administrator would otherwise perform by hand: create or update a template, assign it to a user or group, read the current assignment, and remove it. The reason to want one is almost always that signature state needs to follow something happening in another system. Common cases include an internal onboarding workflow that provisions a signature as one step among many, a franchise or multi-brand operation where signature assignment follows a record in an internal database, and an agency or managed service provider automating client workspace setup. Two cautions apply when evaluating. An API that only creates signatures but cannot read current assignments makes reconciliation impossible, so any automation built on it drifts silently. And API access is frequently a paid add-on or an enterprise-tier feature rather than part of the base subscription, which changes the cost calculation for automation projects. For most organizations under 150 seats, directory sync and group targeting cover what an API would be used for, and the API only becomes necessary when signature state depends on data that is not in the directory at all.
